Legal Foundations Toolkit - Coach Edition
If you've been running your coaching business on a borrowed contract, a website template you copied from someone else, and a quiet hope that nothing will go wrong, this is the kit that fixes it.
The Legal Foundations Toolkit, Coach Edition gives UK coaches the five documents your business should have been built on. Plain English. Built for the way coaching actually works.
Clear. Practical. Sorted.
Most coaches don't have proper legal foundations, because no one in my profession ever made them feel like proper legal protection was for businesses their size.
So they rely on:
contracts cobbled together from Google
website terms copied from somebody else's site
privacy policies that reference legislation that's been superseded
the idea that they'll sort it out later
This kit exists to interrupt that pattern.
It gives you the documents your coaching business should have been built on and the walkthrough videos to make sure you understand what each one does and how to personalise it.
It covers:
the contract that governs every coaching engagement, one-to-one and group
the terms that govern every sale through your website
the privacy policy that keeps you compliant with UK GDPR and PECR, including the sensitive client information coaching involves
the letter sequence that recovers late payments using your statutory rights
the guide that walks you through every decision in every document
No fluff. No filler. Just the foundations.
Who is this for?
This edition is built for UK coaches, whether you work one to one, run group programmes, or both. Life, business, career, leadership, executive, wellbeing, if you coach clients, send invoices, sell digital products, run workshops, or collect any personal data through a website, this is for you.
Built specifically for coaching, it covers the things a generic services contract simply doesn't: the line between coaching and therapy, confidentiality that can't be absolute, session cancellations, your supervision, and your ethical framework.
What's included?
Five documents, plus a deep walkthrough video for each:
Coaching Services Agreement - your core contract for one-to-one and group coaching. Built around the realities of coaching: scope of coaching versus therapy, no guaranteed outcomes, confidentiality with safeguarding carve-outs, session cancellation and rescheduling, recordings and notes, supervision, boundaries and referral, and optional group-coaching terms, alongside the protections every business needs: the liability cap, statutory interest, force majeure, data protection, dispute resolution, and the consumer cooling-off period.
Website Terms and Conditions - everything you need to sell legally through your website, whether that's a self-study course, a workshop place, or a membership. Includes the model cancellation form required under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Privacy Policy - compliant with UK GDPR and PECR, with a dedicated special category data section for the health and wellbeing information coaching so often involves. Plus sections on marketing, cookies, international data transfers, subject access requests, and data breaches.
Late Payment Letter Sequence - three escalating letters using your statutory rights under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, plus guidance on when to send what and how it differs when your client is a consumer rather than a business.
Foundations Guide (Coach Edition) - your reference document. Explains every section of every document, walks you through every decision, and tells you what to do when situations arise that the documents alone don't cover.
Plus:
Deep walkthrough videos
A welcome video orienting you to the kit
Permanent access - yours to keep, use, and update as your business grows

FAQs
Is this legal advice? No. The toolkit provides legal templates and education. Personalising the templates to your specific circumstances is your decision; the templates are a starting point rather than personalised advice.
Is this built specifically for coaches? Yes. Unlike a generic services contract, the Coaching Services Agreement has dedicated clauses for the coaching/therapy boundary, no guaranteed outcomes, confidentiality carve-outs, session cancellation, recordings, supervision, referral, and group coaching and the Foundations Guide teaches the coaching-specific decisions throughout.
Do I need to be accredited (ICF, EMCC, AC)? No. The contract works whether or not you're accredited. There's a clause where you simply state your position. If you are accredited, it points your clients to the right complaints route.
What if my coaching is close to therapy, clinical, or regulated work? The scope clause draws a clear line around coaching, and the privacy policy handles sensitive client data. But if your work is genuinely therapeutic, clinical, or regulated, treat the kit as a strong base layer and seek bespoke advice email hello@launchlegal.co.uk.
What if I do mostly non-coaching service work? If your business is primarily project or operational work i.e. design, copywriting, virtual assistance, consulting, the General Edition of the toolkit, with its universal B2B Client Services Agreement, is the better fit. Email hello@launchlegal.co.uk and we'll point you to it.
Is this specific to England and Wales? Yes. The toolkit is designed for UK coaching businesses operating under the law of England and Wales.
How long does it take to set up? Most buyers personalise the documents over a few focused sessions, with the walkthrough videos guiding every decision. Realistically, plan for a half-day to a full day across the whole kit.
Will I need a solicitor at any point? For most coaching engagements, the toolkit covers what you need. For organisational or sponsored coaching, higher-value contracts, work close to clinical territory, or a dispute that's already arisen, you may want bespoke advice, and the toolkit positions you to know when that moment is.
